ProSnore Original and ProSnore II have been discontinued by manufacturer and no longer available.

I have found some excellent alternatives to both Prosnore products. The one that really stands out based on my personal experience is Good Morning Sleep Solution, also known as GMSS.

It is a little less expensive and can be worn the day you receive it in the mail. It takes a different approach by holding your tongue forward as opposed to your jaw, and based on my experience, I have found this to be very effective and comfortable.

You can also check my recommended devices list for other options.

Like other mandibular advancement devices, ProSnore is designed to hold your jaw in a forward position. By doing this the airway is widened, air can flow freely, and the vibration of soft tissue can be prevented.

If you have explored other MAD options then this probably all sounds pretty familiar. However, ProSnore does have a couple defining characteristics that allows it to stand out from others on the market.

How is ProSnore Different?

Most MADs utilize a boil-and-bite technique where you drop the mouthpiece in boiling water, and then bite it while it is soft to create a mold; ProSnore takes an approach that is a bit different. When you order this device, the manufacturer actually mails you a custom mold kit. Inside you find molding clay and a teeth tray.

It comes with clear instructions to create an impression of your mouth. After doing so, you mail the kit to the laboratory. Here, your mouthpiece is custom made and sent to you within a couple of weeks.

The custom-fitting process is not the only thing that distinguishes ProSnore from other anti-snoring appliances on the market. The jaw advancement feature is also unique. With most MADs, the lower jaw is held forward by relying on the upper teeth.

It features an extension that protrudes out in-front of the gums and upper teeth. It is the extension that pulls the jaw forward, thereby tightening the muscles in the throat. This prevents soft tissue from blocking your airway when you sleep. The design is also significantly less bulky than some other products, which you may find more comfortable to wear.

How to Fabricate Your Appliance

Creating a mold to get a custom fit is quite easy. The directions are precise and will explain how to add the clay to the teeth tray, as well as how to ensure you get a precise imprint of your mouth. The process is quite similar to what you would have done in the dentist’s office, if you were having a dental appliance made.

You will receive a pre-addressed and prepaid envelope to mail your impressions back to the lab. After about two to three weeks you will receive the custom made mouthpiece that requires no further preparation to use. However, you will want to clean it prior to putting it in your mouth for the first time. You will also receive a carrying case to keep your mouthpiece in when it is not in use.

Positives and Negatives

ProSnore has some obvious advantages that snorers are attracted to, but it is not without its negative points, as well. When purchasing an anti-snoring device, it is important to be familiar with both the pros and cons of the product.

Positives:
  • Established company with a trusted reputation, as ProSnore has been around since 2007.
  • Custom-molded to your exact specification in a laboratory.
  • Low-profile design does not take up much room in your mouth, making it a very comfortable and easy-to-wear option.
  • Design allows for increased airflow and oxygen levels.
  • Affordable price compared to what you would pay to have your dentist create the same oral device.
  • Easy to transport on vacation, business trips, etc., and comes with a carrying case.
  • Made of a smooth plastic that is not irritating to the gums.
  • An actual doctor helped create the product.
Negatives:
  • You have to wait two to three weeks for your mouthpiece to come back from the laboratory.
  • Website says ProSnore has a 100 percent money back guarantee, but does not tell you how long you have to try the product out.
  • Some people will have a hard time getting used to having something in their mouth.
  • The design demands that you breathe through your nose, which can be a deal-breaker for those with a deviated septum, nose injury, or some other reason why this is not possible.

Can ProSnore Help with Sleep Apnea?

The ProSnore website makes a bold statement by claiming that the product could eliminate sleep apnea. Most manufacturers stay away from such claims for liability reasons. If you have obstructive sleep apnea or you think you might have the condition then using any mouthpiece without consulting your doctor can be quite dangerous.

Although oral appliances have been proven to be effective at treating sleep apnea in some controlled environments it is not something you should do unless your doctor clears it because if you have central sleep apnea, an MAD would not be a good approach to use.

About the Company

diligenceThere is not much information available about the company, but it is known that ProSnore looked to Dr. Gregerson for help creating it. For more than 30 years, Dr. Gregerson has practiced dentistry.

He is President of the Utah Dental Association and an active board member of the American Dental Association. His expertise combined with high-tech impressive material allowed ProSnore to create a stop snoring solution at a fraction of the price of what similar products would cost made by a dentist.

Let’s Talk Price

ProSnore retails for $119.99, if you pay in full. However, the company does offer the option to make two payments of $69.99. Regular shipping is free, and keep in mind that you get a prepaid envelope to send your imprint to the lab.

Upgraded shipping is $9.99, but it is unclear how much faster this option is. Express Shipping upgrade is $34.99, and Overnight Shipping is $114.99.

Here Are a Few Reviews From Actual Customers

reviewsMost reviews are satisfied with the effectiveness of the product, as well as the company’s customer service.

ProSnore has been selling this particular appliance on eBay since its birth in 2007, and if you read reviews over the past year, feedback score is 98.9 percent, with more than 3,500 transactions.

On the downside, there are heavy snorers who did not find this product effective. There are also complaints that the product falls out of their mouth easily, and some struggled to breathe through their nose with this device in.

“I bought this in November of 2009 and use it almost every night. I had previously bought one in the $55 range, but that was just a waste of money. it was a boil-in-the-pot types, and as I said, a waste of money. I then tried again, because my snoring was keeping others from sleeping, sometimes even rooms away. Even though this one was 3 times the cost, it was worth every bit. My snoring hasn’t ‘stopped’, but has significantly subsided” – SD Rose

“It helps although not perfectly” – Jesse B.

“Awesome product!!! Mouthpiece fits and works great!!!” – E. Fitzguard

“Easy to use, the discomfort goes away quickly. Not perfect, because it drops out sometimes when I turn over in my sleep and I wake up and find it behind my pillow, but my wife HAS noticed a sharp decrease in my snoring when I manage to spend the whole night with it in place. Well worth the money.” – Ray F.

“Thanks. Had it in the last 2 nights. Worked!” – Ilene Brown

My Thoughts

I would recommend ProSnore to anyone who does not mind waiting several weeks to get their mouthpiece back. The custom-fitting technique really helps it stand out from boil-and-bite products. Plus, its stream-lined design makes it comfortable to wear.

If you don’t want to wait, I would recommend trying Good Morning Sleep Solution (GMSS). It is a little less expensive and can be worn the day you receive it in the mail.

It takes a different approach by holding your tongue forward as opposed to your jaw, and based on my experience, I have found this to be very effective and comfortable.

Which Product Should I Buy?

questionEvery person has a unique mouth and different needs for their particular snoring, so one that is perfect for one person, may not be the best option for another.

With well over 100 products on the market it can obviously be quite daunting to decide, “Which one?”

To help ease the decision process I have created a comparison chart where you can effortlessly assess each product and its features, price, pros and cons. I have also written several detailed reviews for those devices that I believe to be leading products.

If you would rather not spend a lot of time reading reviews, please take a look at the article linked here: My Mouthpiece Recommendation. It’s a list of three products which I believe, based on my extensive experience, are the best options available to people who suffer from snoring.
