PureSleep is a mandibular advancement device, more commonly referred to as an MAD.
It has been designed to hold your jaw in a forward position while you sleep, thereby keeping your airway free of obstruction.
You may not know it, but that snoring sound is created through the vibration of tissues. They vibrate because air is being forced through, so if you open up the airway you eliminate the snoring.
About the PureSleep Mouthpiece
PureSleep is a self-molded retainer that can be customized using the boil-and-bite technique. It features an upper and lower piece that can be joined together in three different settings. Once you connect the pieces you do the boil-and-bite technique, and your device is ready-to-use.
This anti-snoring mouthpiece is made of two varieties of plastic, but both are BPA-free and latex-free. This device is made in the USA by 100 percent American-made materials, and it is cleared by the United States Food and Drug Administration.
When you receive your PureSleep device in the mail it will be in two pieces. It will also include detailed instructions for the adjustment process. You can’t mold the device until you pick a setting, and it is important that you choose the right one so take your time. Once you have determined a setting you can start the boil-and-bite process. The steps are as followed:
- Bring 2 cups of water to the temperature specified in the instructions.
- Pour the water into a small bowl or coffee mug.
- Submerge the mouthpiece for the recommended amount of time.
- Take the mouthpiece out of the water, and allow the appliance to cool to a safe temperature.
- Place PureSleep in your mouth, and bite down. Hold this position for 45 seconds as the softened material allows your teeth to create an impression.
- Remove and place in cold water to speed up the hardening process.
A Look at the Company
PureSleep was developed by a San Francisco dentist and snorer named Dr. Douglas Fenton, alongside Noel Lindsay, another snoring sufferer. For at least 10 years Dr. Fenton and other local physicians had prescribed mouthpieces to their patients for snoring that cost $400.
Lindsay, a business man, came along and saw the potential to market an anti-snoring mouthpiece at an affordable price. The PureSleep Company was founded in 2007, and claims it produces the “#1 selling snoring solution in the world.”
Although the product does have positive reviews, the company has had some complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. Some were in regards to product satisfaction, but most were about billing and shipping issues. Needless to say it appears as though the company has worked to resolve issues and cases are now closed.
How Much Does PureSleep Cost?
PureSleep is offering a two-for-one price of deal on these mouthpieces. So, for $59.90, plus $10 shipping and handling, you get two devices. This is definitely a good value as it works out to about $35 per unit, including shipping.
The company also lets you try the device for 30 days first. You simply pay $9.95 to cover the shipping and handling, and your two mouthpieces get mailed to you. On the 30th day your credit card will be charged $59.90, unless you have decided to return them.
Pros and Cons
Like all mouthpieces, PureSleep has both pros and cons. To make an educated buying decision it is important to become familiar with both.

Should I Buy PureSleep?
PureSleep is an affordable snoring solution manufactured through an established company and designed by a dentist. It is made of safe materials that are BPA-free and latex-free, and air holes in front allow you to breathe through your mouth.
The product does offer three settings and allows you to achieve a custom fit, but the setting cannot be reversed once molded.
I would recommend PureSleep to anyone looking for a modestly priced product to help them stop snoring. As a bonus, it is nice that you can try the product first by paying only shipping.
If you are looking for an alternative that is more comfortable, I recommend VitalSleep.
Unlike PureSleep, VitalSleep does not only use a boil-and-bite technique, but also has micro-adjustment feature, so you are not forced to use one universal lower jaw position.
The product comes in two sizes, so you start with one most appropriate for your mouth, and then customize it. Also, it has a generous-sized air hole to breathe through.
VitalSleep is BPA-free and latex-free, and cleared by the Unites States Food and Drug Administration. It is the same price as PureSleep of $59.95.
Plus, the manufacturer provides 100 percent replacements for a full year. I have found the design of VitalSleep to be comfortable and effective.
My Rating: 4.0
Which Product Should I Buy?
With well over 100 products on the market it can obviously be quite daunting to decide, “Which one?”
To help ease the decision process I have created a comparison chart where you can effortlessly assess each product and its features, price, pros and cons. I have also written several detailed reviews for those devices that I believe to be leading products.
If you would rather not spend a lot of time reading reviews, please take a look at the article linked here: My Mouthpiece Recommendation. It’s a list of three products which I believe, based on my extensive experience, are the best options available to people who suffer from snoring.
