I continually keep an eye on the snoring remedy market because I never know what I may need tomorrow. The causes of your snoring can evolve over time, and you may need a new way to counter the issue.

That’s exactly what happened after a few months of enjoying the benefits of nose cones. When the new spring season affected my allergies and resulted in congestion, I needed help.

Luckily, I came across the Breathe Right nasals strips’ extensive range. With the many options all focused on improving breathing I found a dynamic solution even though it took a while to determine which in the product range works best.

If you want to try them, read on so you can easily determine which one to try first.

What is Breathe Right?

What are Breathe Right Nasal Strips?Breathe Right strips form part of the collection of nasal strips that enhance breathing. Note that they’re not only called snore strips because they’re actually designed to help with a range of challenges:

  • Congestions
  • Stuffy noses because of allergies
  • Snoring
  • Cold and flu symptoms.

So, you can keep these in the cupboard if you know someone in your household snores regularly or if you want to help them sleep better when they have colds.

Remember these remedies aren’t only to help your partner enjoy the lower noise levels. When someone breathes better his or her own quality of rest improves.

How Does Breathe Right Work and Do Snoring Strips Really Work?

This better breathing is enabled by strong strips that pull the airways open slightly so air can travel more freely, you can imagine it almost as soring tape stretching your nostrils out.

When you snore, have flu or allergies these passages at the back of your nose tend to close up. This can be due to swelling or congestion or because everything relaxes—and collapses—when you fall asleep.

These strips’ unique positioning right behind the nostrils pull open the nostrils, and the pressure keeps open those airways until you remove the strips. As you apply the strips, you pull them tight, and when you release them, they want to return to their original shape. This tension pulls open your nose.

How to Use Breathe Right

Each step in the process is important if you want to experience relief right through the night:

  • Clean your face and specifically the nose area properly. If there’s an excess of oil the strips won’t cling to your skin for long.
  • Pull off the protective liner to expose the adhesive on the strip.
  • Position the strip, so the tabs are right behind the flaring part of the nostrils.
  • Press down firmly and hold for a few seconds so the adhesive can stick properly.

Now you can breathe easily and, in the morning, I found the best way to remove Breathe Right strips is by gently pulling them off or applying soap & water to make it come off easier.

What Size Breathe Right Strips Do I Need?

It’s important the strips fit well, and that’s why you’ll find two sizes:

  • Small/Medium which fits most people’s noses comfortably
  • Large for extra-large noses.

It was difficult to find the perfect fit, and I wish they sold trial packs containing a few of each size.

While most people start using the Small/Medium size—which is supposed to fit the majority of people—I gave both a go so that I knew I really tried everything.

Surprisingly, even though I don’t have a very big nose, I found better results, comfort, and ease of application with the large units.

All I’m saying is: The directions don’t always apply to everyone.

How is Breathe Right Different?

Breathe Right TypesI love that this brand provides so many options in their range:

  • Original Tan
  • Extra Tan which is even stronger, resulting in more pull
  • Original Clear that won’t easily hurt sensitive skin
  • Extra Clear that’s a strong strip but won’t irritate sensitive skin
  • Lavender which contains ingredients that have a calming effect actually to benefit sleep.

What’s important about these strips is that they’re designed to enhance breathing in many situations—such as flu or sinus problems—so they can help with many sleep challenges, not only snoring. If you or your child needs better breathing, that’s what Breathe Right is meant for.

User Experience

Firstly, note that this only works for nasal breathers.

Luckily, I’m one of the 90% of people who have reported that Breathe Right nasal strips improve sleep.

This can be due to reduced snoring or because partners snore less. This is the percentage reported after a clinical trial.

I did have a short adjustment period, but the strips do alleviate some of my snoring.

I definitely still snore when I’m congested when an allergy flares up because my partner hears me. But when I compare my sleep—amount and quality—with a year ago it’s definitely improved.

Breathe Right Nasal Strips Reviews – What Consumers Say

Consumers who try this usually have good things to say about it. Some people comment that it did actually improve their relationships because snoring wasn’t a problem anymore.

What they do complain about is how strong the adhesive is. It can be quite tricky getting these off in the morning. The brand does have an alternative now as the ‘Clear’ ones come off easier.

Users love the effect on breathing in general but have seen they aren’t effective for exercise purely because they come off easily once you start sweating. This is unfortunate as it could help athletes who battle with congestions or allergies.

Breathe Right offers the strips in different sizes such as 26 unit packs or 30 unit packs. This brand distributes the products through various department stores.

Note that they’re often sold as a cold or flu remedy so have a look in that aisle if you can’t find them anywhere else.

Alternatively, you’ll find them online at breatheright.com or visit Amazon where you’ll pay just under $10 no matter the version you pick.

You’ll also find some bulk buying options which can save you some money.

It would have been better if trial packs were available, but this is not a huge expense, so at $10 a month it’s worth a try.

Pros and Cons

  • 38% more effective than cold medicine
  • Safe for children (older than five)
  • Drug-free snoring remedy
  • Different types available
  • Two sizes available

  • Continuous expense you have to budget for
  • Not as successful as MAD or TSD options
  • Only works for nasal snorers

Because this product is designed to help with congestions—not specifically only snoring—you can find relief for many different night breathing challenges.

And as long as there are new noninvasive snoring remedies, I would advise you to keep trying until you find the perfect solution.

Breathe Right could be what you’re looking for although it has never shown a 100% success rate.

If you’re in need of something that not only reduces but really takes snoring away, you’ll need to invest in a MAD or TSD device.

Which Product Should I Buy?

questionEvery person has a unique mouth and different needs for their particular snoring, so one that is perfect for one person, may not be the best option for another.

With well over 100 products on the market it can obviously be quite daunting to decide, “Which one?”

To help ease the decision process I have created a comparison chart where you can effortlessly assess each product and its features, price, pros and cons. I have also written several detailed reviews for those devices that I believe to be leading products.

If you would rather not spend a lot of time reading reviews, please take a look at the article linked here: My Mouthpiece Recommendation. It’s a list of three products which I believe, based on my extensive experience, are the best options available to people who suffer from snoring.
