The company Ripsnore was created in 2009 by David Colin Campbell, who is also the director of the company. It can be purchased online in Australia, the UK, Canada, and the USA. It is also the only Mandibular Advancement Device (MAD) sold at chemists and pharmacies in Australia and New Zealand.
Much like all other products on the market, it claims to puts an end to your snoring. They promise to reduce your snoring by at least 80 percent, a notable figure that if true, would satisfy most snorers.
The product uses the standard boil-and-bite technique that many similar devices use to fit the product to the user. You can heat the device in warm water and place it in your mouth. Make sure that your lower teeth are positioned in front of your upper teeth.
Then you won’t want to forget to insert the breathing hole spaces before creating your impression. To solidify the piece, drop it in cold water for a few seconds. Then remove the spacer. After this, the device is ready to use. You’ll know it’s done when the device is transparent.
How does it work?
In simple terms, the device prevents our lower jaw from drifting from its natural position and stops our snoring. It is a wearable device that is placed our mouth before sleeping so that it holds the lower jaw in a fixed place.
This is essentially how most mouthpieces work to stop snoring. It may work better for side and stomach sleepers (as opposed to back sleepers). It can certainly work for people who sleep on their backs as well. However, different devices address different causes of snoring. You may want to consult your doctor or participate in a sleep study to see if the cause of your snoring has to do with jaw placement.
Differences between Ripsnore and other products
Unlike several other oral devices which have only one breathing hole, or a narrow passage for breathing, this product has dual air holes which can improve airflow and lead to a better night’s sleep. Additionally, the Ripsnore is BPA free. It also claims to be made using FDA approved materials, though this doesn’t necessarily mean the product itself is FDA approved – an important distinction to make.
This oral device can feel a little bulky in the mouth compared to other mouthpieces, and it may take some time to adjust to wearing it initially.
For $69.95 (including shipping), you get two mouthpieces, with a 45-day guarantee. Though it may take a few days to adjust, 45 days should ideally be more than enough time to test out the mouthpiece and see if it’s right for you. However, as you should note in the reviews below, the word “guarantee” might not hold as much water as you think.
Several customers complained that they tried to send the device back but were unable to get a refund from the company.
That said, $69.95 for two devices is a pretty good deal. Many retailers with similar products charge more than $70 for a single mouthpiece.
Some of the higher end ones can cost over $100. While this isn’t the cheapest solution for your snoring condition, it’s a pretty affordable option (assuming that it is effective for you and helps you sleep quietly).
Pros and Cons
- Two breathing holes.
- 45-day trial period.
- Simple to fit and re-fit if necessary.
- Made of BPA-free material.
- Can feel bulky in the mouth.
- Sometimes causes jaw soreness and drooling.
- Users report difficulty receiving refunds from company.
As far as mouthpieces go, the Ripsnore appears to be a relatively decent choice. When it comes to design and wearability, it makes it easy to breathe through the mouth, thanks to the two air holes.
Additionally, the boil-and-bite technique means that you can easily reshape the piece if need be. This feature isn’t specific to the Ripsnore, but it’s worth noting.
Some other mouthpieces don’t offer the same levels of customization, which can be an issue for snorers with different mouths, or even those who just prefer a more customized solution.
However, the device can sometimes feel bulky in your mouth. Some users report that it caused them to drool excessively and wake up with a sore jaw and teeth. Many mouthpieces have this effect on people, to varying degrees. With nearly any mouthpiece, it may take a few days to get used to wearing it before it feels entirely comfortable.
There is one worrying aspect of this product that isn’t related to the device itself. While those who find it works are happy, those users who have issues with the mouthpiece often are confronted by issues regarding the company.
As some of the reviews below indicate, several users have been unable to get their refunds and return the product when they realize it isn’t the solution for them. This can be a problem, and ultimately may result in you losing money.
What others are saying
One commenter for the article about the device on “Does It Really Work?” wrote:
“I bought the ripsnore recently and was not satisfied with its effectiveness. I returned the device however the company has not provided their money back guarantee as advertised. They were very difficult to communicate with and on a number of occasions did not respond to my correspondence. I would strongly recommend against purchasing this device and dealing with this company. I found them very unprofessional and they did not honor their money back guarantee.”
Another reviewer on the same article commented below:
“Well, received it quite a while ago and been using it every night. My wife said from the first night I stopped snoring, however, it was really bad one or two nights. I checked and it was the nights I was really really tired. Even my wife said she could not wake me at the time. But since then I basically stopped snoring, and my sleeping has improved as well. It takes a bit of getting used to the first week or so; slightly sore jaw, excessive drooling, and just basically getting used to sleeping with something in my mouth. That went away soon after and now I don’t even notice it anymore. Very glad I made the purchase. Can definitely recommend it. My wife is happy, too.”
Another purchaser, Lori, wrote on “Does it really work?”:
“I found Ripsnore and have been using them for the last four years! I am getting ready to purchase some more and find that I get great results with these. I am a side sleeper and sleep much better than I have in years. It did take a little getting used to for about a week, but it is much more comfortable than the appliance the doctor was trying to sell me.”
As you can see, there are several mixed reviews, both positive and negative. The people who enjoyed it did remark that it took a few days to adjust, so you may want to consider that.
Don’t assume that if it doesn’t work the first night that it won’t work at all. Give it a few days for your mouth to get used to the device, and see if there are any changes during this time. Reviews for any device tend to show mostly the extreme ends of the spectrum, so while they should be considered, they are only one aspect of the decision.
Is it the choice for you?
So is it the right device for you? It could be. Based on the options to make it custom-fitted to your mouth, and the low cost, this might be the mouthpiece for you.
On the other hand, the difficulties getting a refund from the company and fact that it can make sleeping uncomfortable may be reasons to look elsewhere to other snoring solutions.
If you decide to purchase the Ripsnore device, then you should be aware that you may experience the same issue that other users did in receiving a refund. So it might be a good idea to talk to your doctor and thoroughly look at all your options before settling on a decision.

Which Product Should I Buy?
With well over 100 products on the market it can obviously be quite daunting to decide, “Which one?”
To help ease the decision process I have created a comparison chart where you can effortlessly assess each product and its features, price, pros and cons. I have also written several detailed reviews for those devices that I believe to be leading products.
If you would rather not spend a lot of time reading reviews, please take a look at the article linked here: My Mouthpiece Recommendation. It’s a list of three products which I believe, based on my extensive experience, are the best options available to people who suffer from snoring.
