Snoring is often caused by slack muscles around the jaw and mouth, which obstruct the airways and create the loud vibrations we call snoring.
Mandibular advancement devices (or MADs) seek to correct the source of the snoring by holding the jaw slightly forwards, keeping all the muscles in and around the mouth in the correct placement.
The VitalSleep and SnoreRX are two high-quality examples of a MAD. They fit comfortably inside your mouth, are designed to be worn all night, and reduce snoring.
While both devices are effective and well-designed, I preferred the VitalSleep because it is ultimately more cost effective. Here’s a look at my experiences with both devices and why I prefer the VitalSleep.

MAD devices aren’t always suitable for people with dental concerns, especially dentures or bridges. If you’re not sure if a MAD device is suitable for you, speak with a medical professional.
You may experience some jaw discomfort, sensitivity, or drooling when you start using a new anti-snoring product.
Both of these MADs are adjustable, so you can avoid jaw pain, but just be aware that it does sometimes take a few days for your mouth to become accustomed to the device.
You can also check other types of anti-snoring devices, such as Tongue Stabilizing Devices (TSD) and Chin Straps that don’t have such issues:
About the SnoreRX
This snoring device has a unique design that is actually very easy to use. The product has a special technology called “Flex Jaw” which helps with comfort and practicality. It does look more technical than other MADs.
The SnoreRX is made in America from all-American materials. It has FDA clearance, and is certified by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine.
The device is initially fitted with the boil-and-bite method, and should then be adjusted by tiny increments to find an exact fit that is comfortable for you. Sometimes people need a few days to get the adjustment perfect.
Cleaning is a downside to this device, as it can be a bit time-consuming.
Firstly, the device needs to be disassembled and scrubbed with a toothbrush. Once it is clean, it needs to be immersed in water with a denture cleaning tablet to ensure all parts are hygienic.
Using the SnoreRX
I took my time fitting this device, as I wanted it to be perfect. However, even with my precautions I still woke with some jaw soreness and needed to make some further adjustments. It was worth the time to get it right, as I never had another problem with the device.
My wife and I both tried it and found our snoring was greatly reduced, and we both woke feeling very refreshed. It helped that the device was comfortable and allowed us to sleep without disturbance.
Cleaning is another part of the process that takes some time to get used to, but it is worth it to ensure that a product that you put into your mouth is completely clean. Eventually, it becomes a part of your daily routine.

I found this product was easy to fit and required minimal adjustment, although I was grateful to have the ability to adjust it. The flexibility of the device is very noticeable and adds to the overall comfort.
The VitalSleep is made in America and has clearance from the FDA. The device offers a 1-year warranty as well as a free device replacement if the product is faulty in any way. It can be worn by people with partial dentures, but contact a medical professional if you have any concerns.
Cleaning was very easy, as this MAD simply requires a scrub with a toothbrush using toothpaste or even mild dish soap.
However, because you bite the device when fitting it, there are many crevices caused by your teeth indentations that need careful attention from the toothbrush to ensure cleanliness.
Using the VitalSleep
This company has a great discount for purchasing two devices, so that was especially cost effective for my wife and me.
I fitted my device and I only needed minimal adjustment with the hex tool provided.
The boil-and-bite process was easy, and I found this product very comfortable to wear.
Before bed I placed the MAD in my mouth and was impressed at how much more comfortable the side-to-side movement was than a rigid hinge.
I awoke feeling refreshed and my snoring app showed that my levels of snoring had greatly decreased overnight. My wife had the same results.

Both devices work on a similar principle but look quite different. They are both comfortable to wear and easy to fit and adjust.
They are both effective and I had similar results using either device. My snoring was significantly reduced, which improved my quality of sleep.
However, in my opinion, the cleaning process, flexibility and the price of the VitalSleep makes it the better device to try.
